You walk towards the Shop.
Shop
A myriad of warm and comforting scents ranging from the tang of sourdough to the cloying sweetness of marzipan assail the senses as the clanking of the overhead bell announces the shop door opening. From the plaswood paneled floor to the glass cases of the displays, all surfaces gleam with a particular note of cleanliness. A few small round tables with comfortable ladderback chairs line the front of the shop before the plate glass window, which itself bears the marquis of 'Johensen's Bakery' painted in cheerful pale blue script, backwards from this angle. On the far wall is a ceiling high case of various cakes and pastries of many cultures, and the opposite is set with a similar case filled with types of breads. A long counter lines the back of the bakery, much of itself a case filled with cookies and pastries and terminating in a small purchase area. Cool toned flat prints of photographs from Norwegian vistas on Terra dot the walls cheerfully at places, flanking a bright colored chalkboard menu with pricing for differing hot and cold beverages.

Clara
Obvious exits:
Java Quarter
One arm balanced against the edge of a counter, Clara half leans down to peer at the contents inside with a rather intense frown of concentration, as if by staring at the various cookies they would get up and dance.
Kyara spots Clara, passing behind the doctor on her way over to the donuts. Casting a glance toward the objects of Clara's scrutiny, she murmurs, "Yeeeesssss, you want them..."
Thud. That would be the sound of Clara hitting forehead first into the glass before backing away to straighten and rub at the thunked spot. "Ow." She blinks down and grins lightly, slightly puzzled. "Kya? Oh, hi, yeah. Actually, I do, I'm just deciding what kind."
Kyara winces at the thunk, chuckling quietly, and turns to gaze at the cookies herself. "Chocolate, of course. I'd recommend the Dutch cocoa ones." She points to those. "They stay soft for/ev/er."
"Thing is, nothing lasts that long in my fridge if it's made out of chocolate," Clara responds with a laugh, returning to regarding the various confections. "I'm lucky if a dozen cupcakes make it to morning. How're you today?"
Kyara oooohs. Cupcakes. She turns slightly to gaze thoughtfully at those. "Except for taking the morning shift, today's been just fine so far."
Clara glances over with a wry grin before looking up to murmur an order to old Mr. Johensen, who goes about scooping some of said cupcakes into a box. "Morning shift's a bear until you get used to it. I'm direly tempted to go home and nap for a while when I get done here."
Kyara glances over at you, a bit of a startled expression in her eyes. "Nap? You? Are you feeling alright, Clara?"
Clara glances over from taking both the bag and a cup of coffee from the vendor, and hands over her ident in return to be swiped. "Me? Oh, yeah, I'm fine. Just a little tired is all." A grin touches her lips. "It does happen, Kya, I promise."
You do not have unread mail (3 messages remain).
Kyara cocks her head. "Of course it does, as much as you take on yourself. I'm amazed you two have any time to yourself."
Clara shrugs and moves to settle into one of the chairs by the window of the small shop and sample her coffee. "Sometimes we don't," she agrees affably. "It happens."
Kyara blinks, and shakes her head at herself. "You. You don't have any time to yourself, I meant." She trails along, hesitating before she gestures toward the opposite chair. "May I?"
Clara gestures at the chair with a warming smile and nods. "Please do, certainly. And that's why I'm taking the afternoon off, actually. I may skip out of work early tomorrow too, although I haven't decided yet. What about you? How are you?" she asks, almost hesitantly.
Kyara sits, gratefully. "Wow. I half-wondered if he was joking when he said everybody was going to be working less. Oh, I'm fine, I suppose. I just had to get out of my quarters for a little bit. Waiting hand and foot on an injured man can get very frustrating after a while."
Clara shakes her head with a faintly amused laugh, swirling the coffee in her foam cup before taking another sip. "I can imagine so. He's not really all that hurt, though."
Kyara grimaces. "Maybe, but he doesn't act like it. Maybe I'm just spoiling him. I do believe he can fetch his own drinks, even with a cracked rib."
Clara's brows scoot up at this, eyes dancing despite the dark circles beneath them. "Is that so? Did he tell you that his rib got resonated? It's not cracked anymore."
Kyara blinks, then flame erupts in her eyes. "Ooooooh, that... that... that /man/!"
Clara bursts into laughter, albeit of the kindly sort and gestures with her cup. "Don't break him again, Kya. I'm tired enough right now that I'd accidentally resonate the wrong bone. Then Dr. Foster would point and laugh at me."
Kyara shakes her head ruefully. "I'll just make sure he can do things for himself from now on. Hmph. I bet Riley wouldn't do that to you, or Nick to Ela."
Clara rubs at her eyes with the thumb and index finger of her free hand, grinning somewhat. "Oh, depends on what's wrong. But no, Riley for one -can't- do that to me. It's hard to fool a doctor. Dunno about Niko and Ela."
Kyara hmmms. "You've got a point there." She shakes her head after a moment. "Nick wouldn't. He's Galahad. Galahads don't take advantage of their 'babe'." Just a touch of sarcasm on that word. "I need to get me a Galahad for a while."
Clara quirks a brow, then nods sympathetically. "I'd have to agree with that, Kya. And you're not a babe. You're a grown woman. Nor are you a chick, or any of those other terms," she adds with a hint of asperity before wincing. "And that was my clue to go home and hide. When I get gripey. Sorry 'bout that," she offers sheepishly, starting to climb to her feet.
Kyara smiles a little, shaking her head, and rises as well, though she turns more toward the baked goods than the door. "Not your fault. Have a good nap, if that's what you end up doing."
Clara stifles a yawn, then offers a sleepy smile. "Thanks, Kya. Sleep sounds wondrous right now." She turns towards the door, then pauses at it for a moment to offer a grateful smile back. "I'm glad you don't seem to be angry with me anymore," she adds, then the doorbell jingles as the door closes after her.
Clara walks towards the Java Quarter.
Clara has left.
Kyara blinks after the woman, blushing a wild cherry red. Muttering to herself, she turns back to buy chocolate in the form of baked goods.

Shop
On the edge of the Java Quarter, this outdoor market holds a display of food varied enough to dazzle the senses. It is organized rather haphazardly, but wide spaces between the various booths make wandering the market an altogether pleasant experience. As the market caters to the folks from the Complex, the array of food is near-dizzying. One section in particular is devoted entirely to pears.

Aliana walks here from the Java Quarter.
Aliana has arrived.
Aliana pads into the market, her pack hanging loosely from her shoulder as she begins to wander through the booths.
Kyara is at a side booth, one selling sloppy sandwiches and fruit juice. The line in front of her is fairly long.
Aliana catches sight of the Stilvani and calls over, 'Hello Kya!'
Kyara glances over her shoulder, giving a wave with a large bag in her hand. "Aliana! Long time no see."
Aliana nods her head quickly, 'Had a bit of trouble and was stuck in one of the steadings for a while.'
You faintly hear a chime mark the hour.
Kyara blinks. "Stuck? How? Is Islien okay?"
Aliana nods her head quickly, "She just strained a wing muscle...So we needed to stay in Bakaretsu until it was healed enough for her to get here...and now we are grounded until it is healed completely."
Kyara ahhhs. "Well, I certainly hope she's feeling better soon. Did you come to get her some chicken then?"
Aliana chuckles and nods, 'That plus some fresh vegetables..Rhys and I do need to eat as well.' She pauses for a moment, her gaze moving towards the bonded quarter, 'She asked me to thank you for you concern...She will be up and flying very soon.'
Kyara smiles. "That's good to hear. So are your duties lighter in the meantime then?"
Aliana nods her head with a wry smile, "I am a glorified messenger and gopher now." She pauses to add, 'Not that I wasn't before, but its different when it involves flying'
Kyara mhmms. "Less work for your legs, I would imagine."
Aliana nods her head, 'But its not hard work...Rhys has a few days before he has to go back on duty, so its nice being close to the complex.'
Kyara tilts her head curiously. "Did he take leave then?"
Aliana shakes her head, 'No...He will often times be on duty for a few days at a time...then off for a few days.' She lowers her voice to admit, 'It really doesn't make to much sense to me, but he understands it.'
Kyara grins faintly. "I do too. Just the way you said it, I thought he might've gone ahead and taken some well-deserved leave."
Aliana shakes her head,'Not that I know of...I think he is saving that up.' Her smile grows fond as she notes, "I think he loves to fly as much or more than I do.'
Kyara chuckles. "That would seem logical, considering that he /is/ a pilot."
Aliana colours slightly as she ducks her head, 'I guess you are right.' She pauses for a moment to consider the Stilvani, 'Remember the other night, in the clothes shop...You seemed a little out of sorts...Is everything okay now?'
Kyara's smile falters a bit. She glances to see how the line in front of her is going, and shrugs. "The situation has not changed. My reaction to it has dulled somewhat."
Aliana ohs softly, considering her with a rather concerned expression,'Is there anything I can do?'
Kyara shakes her head, her half-smile a little sad. "I'm afraid I'll just have to let time heal this wound."
Aliana nods her head, "But chocolate heals all."
Kyara blinks, and laughs, and lifts the bag in her hand by way of gesture. "Brownies, cupcakes, and truffles."
Aliana laughs, 'Then you need a night filled with friends and fun...and much laughter.'
Kyara cocks her head, and finally nods. "Maybe you're right."
Aliana nods her head quickly, 'I think I am.' She says with a grin, "besides...chocolate is much better when its shared."
Kyara snickers. "Ah, so you're just after my chocolate!" Giving a wink, she steps out of the still-long line. "Shall we adjourn to... somewhere?"
Aliana chuckles, 'If you can wait while I get some chicken..Islien would not forgive me in the least.'
Kyara smiles sheepishly. "Of course. I might even get some to snack on myself."
Aliana chuckles as she heads down to the stand...the vendor's face immediately brightens as he sees Ali. It pays to be a repeat customer. Ali pulls out a few coins and exchanges that for a nice sized parcel. She turns to Kyara, I will be right back...Meet in the quarter?'
Kyara glances around for a moment, and nods. "I'll be there."
You walk towards the Java Quarter.
Java Quarter
In the very heart of the Java Quarter stands a massive granite fountain. Change glints in the basin, and a whimsically carved dragon basks amongst the pouring flows of water. A small faded plaque indicates it's a memorial of some kind. Around the fountain square lurk squat little buildings, each painted in a riot of colors and bedecked with curling wrought iron trim. Many years ago these were fine houses for people from outlying steadings coming to visit the capitol. Now they have been re-made into artist's studios, odd little stores, java shops, and bars.
The streets in this quarter are all of cobblestone, and earthenware pots are scattered at every corner. In these pots are planted quirky little topiary bushes. The streetlights are made to mimic old gas lantern-lights, and the street signs are of battered driftwood. A great deal of care has been taken to keep the flavor and charm of this district without sacrificing modern amenities. Small darkened 'alleys' lead off the narrow streets and between the cramped buildings. Dingy and with a flavor of great age to them, they're probably not the best place for tourists to go.

Aliana has arrived.
Aliana returns without the packet of chicken, her pack slung over her shoulder. "Where would you like to go?'
Kyara shakes her head, getting up from her seat on the fountain. "I've no particular preference."
Aliana points to the hill, "lets go there...Its a fun place.'
Kyara glances up the hill, and nods, striding in that direction.
You walk towards the Hill Overlooking the Quarter.
Hill Overlooking the Quarter
As may be implied, this hill overlooks the Java Quarter. As it's a fairly long hill, somewhat steep in places, it may be accessed by any number of stairways and ramps and paths worn in the grass.
The plateau atop the hill seems to have been preserved as some sort of public park, as trees abound, flowers are meticulously planted in neat and fussy arrangements, and cobblestone-free walkways lead to several different areas. In one, a particularly flat area has been paved for various forms of skating, and is much in use. In another, tables with checkerboard tops have been bolted to the ground--so they won't go for a walk, of course. Along the center of the plateau, surrounded by another of those fussy flower-arrangements, a long reflecting pool holds the reversed-image of the Complex. Of course, as several families of ducks have taken up residence in said pool, the image is often distorted, but isn't that the way it should be? On the opposite side of the pool from the skating area, a brightly-colored playground beckons to children of all ages, shapes, and sizes. At the end of the pool, facing the Complex, is a massive sculpture. And, as the makers of the park realize that children have needs that sometimes strike suddenly, restrooms and water fountains are available at the far end of the plateau.

Aliana walks here from the Java Quarter.
Aliana has arrived.
Aliana heads towards the tables, 'How is this?' She asks over her shoulder.
Kyara nods amiably, moving along with her. "That'll do just fine, I think. And I've got enough napkins in here we won't have to set the stuff right on the table."
Aliana pulls out a bottle and two glasses, "My contribution to the evening'
Kyara's eyes widen a little. "What is it? Wine?" She in turn brings out her various chocolate prizes, and napkins, to spread across the table.
Aliana shakes her head, 'No...something I just discovered recently...Irish cream...Very smooth.' She says before pouring out two glasses, "Try it...and if you don't like it..I did bring some whiskey and even some of that orange stuff you seem to like."
Kyara takes one of the glasses, sniffing at the contents cautiously. Eyes widening a little, she takes a testing sip of the stuff, and her eyes widen a lot further. "Good," she decides, taking a bolder drink. "Very good."
Aliana takes a slow sip, her smile filling her face, 'Suprising...isn't it?'
Kyara mhmms, reaching for a cupcake. "Not too strong, not too sweet. I could get used to this stuff."
Aliana nods her head quickly, "Its become my favourite type of alcohol." She notes before reaching for a brownie
Kyara grins, asking, "And how did you discover this wonderful stuff?" The wrap is peeled carefully from her cupcake before she takes a big bite.
Aliana chuckles softly, 'Would you believe my brother? We happened to both be in Otaku at the same time...He was there visiting and brought a bottle from Terra.'
Kyara blinks, alternating between bites of cupcake and sips from her glass. "You have siblings off-planet?"
Aliana nods,'Only my sister and I are still on Linnae, of my full siblings. Our brothers are scattered all over. This was Karlis, he does something on Terra, something to do with machines? I think.'
Kyara ohhhhs. "I'd gotten the impression all your family's... homebodies?"
Aliana shakes her head, 'Just Sali and I, really. Sali is far worse than I am. She is rather timid.' There is a fond note in her voice for her older sister. "All she wants to do is be left with her art."
Kyara changes from an ohhhh to an ahhhh. Brushing crumbs from her chin, she remarks, "She's the one that draws a lot? Somehow that's fitting, that an artist should be so attuned to their home."
Aliana nods her head as she finishes her bite, "Not that I am biased or anything..but she truly does beautiful work. I should show you some of the pieces she did based on my sketches of the temple.'
Kyara giggles. "Not biased, right." She cocks her head, setting her empty glass down. "You got 'em on ya?"
Aliana shakes her head, 'They are still back in Otaku...I would have to bring them here.'
Kyara ohs, looking muchly disappointed, and uses one finger to push her glass toward you a little. "Could I pretty please have some more?" She reaches for a truffle and pops it into her mouth.
Aliana nods her head as she refills Kya's glass and tops off her own. After she carefully sets the bottle down she asks, 'How is G'ben doing?'
Kyara blinks as she drains half the glass, nodding in thanks. "G'ben? Ohhhh, /that/ G'ben. He's starting school now, did ya know that?"
Aliana beams at that,'He is? Where is he going to school?'
Kyara gestures vaguely in the direction of the Complex. "With the diplomats' kids."
Aliana nods,'He will get a good education at the very least.'
Kyara mhmms, a faintly worried frown flitting across her features. "I hope he won't have too much trouble with that bunch."
Aliana considers for a moment, 'The worst trouble will come from their parents. He is perhaps the smartest person I have ever met...and the way he picks things up? It will put them to shame.'
Kyara chuckles, almost cackling. "Gotta admit, that's a amusing image."
Aliana nods her head quickly, 'Very amusing indeed...He's a pretty good kid. I think he will do well.'
Kyara nods emphatically, if perhaps a bit too enthusiastically. Liquor and her small form just don't mix well, or at least, don't mix slowly. Only the steady chomping on chocolate treats has kept her from being completely blitzed at this point. "'Course he will. /Clara/ likes 'im, and Riley likes 'im, and everybody else likes him, and they wouldn't if he wasn't a good kid, right?"
Aliana nods, "I trust Clara's judgement of people'
Kyara nods dwindle to a much slower pace at that statement. "Yeah," she says softly. "She ain't always right though, y'know."
Aliana carefully tops off both glasses again before she asks curiously, 'She isn't?'
Kyara shakes her head widely side to side. "She likes me, doesn't she? But I'm just a mean little person who doesn't deserve friends like her."
Aliana tilts her head as she considers the Stilvani..confusion entering her face. "Little yes..mean? I don't buy that for a minute"
Kyara snickers. "Little meaning... I dunno, not big-hearted I guess. Though maybe it's the other way around- m'heart's /too/ big."
Aliana leans a bit closer to the Stilvani...as if peering at heart, 'I think hearts come in one size...depending on the person, I think?'
Kyara shrugs a little. "Mebbe. I dunno. All this heart stuff confuses me." In a gesture of frustration, she whips half a cupcake across the (thankfully empty) park. The ducks feast.
Aliana watches it sail through the night. "Nice Aim" She notes before turning back to the Stilvani, 'Lots of things confuse me' She notes, 'What about hearts confuse you?'
Kyara gestures wildly, her frustration growing more obvious. "How come one heart has to fall for one that doesn't in return?"
Understanding begins to peek through Ali's face before she takes a slow sip of her drink, 'That is a difficult question, Kya...One that I don't have an answer to.'
Kyara nods mournfully, finishing off her second glass. She reaches for the bottle to pour herself more. "I know. Nobody does. Love's supposed to be a /good/ thing, doesn't it? Doesn't make sense that it hurts."
Aliana shakes her head,'No...It makes all the sense in the world that it hurts.' She looks into her glass for a long moment before she continues, "What happened,Kya?" Her tone is gentle and soft.
Kyara's expression is pure misery as she stares into her glass. Oddly, her complexion begins to redden a little. "Loved him. Always loved him, from when I met 'im. Thought maybe I had a chance, y'know? Then along comes Clara and all, /all/ my dreams gone, just like that."
Aliana reaches over to rest her hand on Kya's, her voice softening even more. "He is a rather amazing man...Someone whom I admire and respect."
Kyara begins to sniffle. "Oh yeah, I admire and r'spect him too. But it ain't enough. And him and Clara 're all gushy all over each other... Hurts to watch 'em."
Aliana shakes her head,'No, it isn't enough...not when you love somebody. Have you told him how you feel?'
Kyara's eyes widen, and she very emphatically shakes her head. "No! No... how could I? He's so happy with Clara... I'm happy for 'em, don't get me wrong... but that'd be just be asking to get laughed at or something." Her voice takes on a bitter note. "He calls me 'kiddo', for pete's sake- you don't fall in love with somebody you think of as a kid."
Aliana ponders this for a moment,'How old is Riley, anyway...I have always thought of him as being old for some reason'
Kyara sighs softly, though a snicker does escape at that latter comment. "Thirty-eight, thirty-nine, something like that."
Aliana snickers softly, 'Almost old enough to be our father, you realize that?'
Kyara cringes. "Yeah."
Aliana's smile softens as she considers the Stilvani, 'So you can understand why he treats you like a kid.'
Kyara grits her teeth, tossing the rest of her drink down her throat. "Clara's only a few years older 'n me."
Aliana doesn't pause as she refills Kyara's glass and her own...amazing how quickly that goes down. She wrinkles her nose slightly, 'I always thought of Clara as being closer to Riley's age.'
Kyara shakes her head, picking a brownie into crumbs. "She's, like, twenty-eight, I think? Something like that. A good decade younger 'n him."
Aliana nods, 'But still lots older than us.' She falls silent as she sips her drink, then gazes into the sky, 'This has nothing to do with Clara...and everything to do with you. Even if she was gone completely. Riley is your guardian. I doubt he would allow himself to feel that way about you.'
Kyara cocks her head, a rather dangerous move at this level of buzz. "I wouldn't've gone for the guardian thing though, if he hadn't gone and fallen in love with /her/."
Aliana mhmmms softly, "And what would you have done?'
Kyara shrugs a little. "All sorts o' things I could've done. Told him how I felt. Or even be more subtle and let things happen natur'lly. See, cause if I coulda declared a lifemating, I coulda honorably resigned from the delegate."
Aliana considers the stilvani for a long moment, 'Could have been, may have happened, If Only I had....Kya, nothing about that changes what is.'
Kyara doesn't... quite... glare. "You think I don't know that?!?"
Aliana does duck her head slightly, okay...she does sway a bit..catching herself on the table. She asks curiously 'how do you know you love him?'
Kyara sighs, closing her eyes. "I... my heart jumps into my throat whenever I'm around him. Every time he gets hurt I've got this urge to go to him and take care of him and keep him safe. I... he's in my dreams. Wonderful dreams. It /hurts/, a real, physical hurt, in my chest, whenever I think about him being with somebody else." Blindly she reaches for her glass, draining it, and gives you a sorrowful look. "I am sorry, Ali. I shouldn't've yelled at you."
Aliana moves swiftly to her side, arm slipping around the Stilvani's shoulders, 'Oh Kya...I am so very sorry.'
Kyara nods, ducking her head to hide the tears. "Not fair," she whispers. "It's not fair, Ali. A whine, I know it is, but I can't help it."
Aliana affirms softly, 'No, Not fair at all'
Kyara is silent for a moment, then she begins to laugh, quietly at first, but growing in volume. "I envy you. Gods, how I envy you. Hold onto Rhys, Ali. Hold onto him with all your strength. You don't know what ya got til it's gone and there ain't no chance of getting it back."
Aliana is silent for a long moment, 'I do not know what I did to ever deserve Rhys, every moment with him is a gift..But I do not own him. There could come a day when he would like to walk out of my life and I will let him go.'
Kyara looks over at you, confused. "You wouldn't fight to keep him?"
Aliana is silent for a long moment, 'And end up with him hating me? I could not force him to stay with me.'
Kyara tilts her head, miserable and confused. "Force? What force? Like, you wouldn't suggest, like, marriage counseling or something?"
Aliana looks rather confused "What do you mean?"
The confused leading the confused... Kya thinks hard for a moment, her brow furrowing. "Sometimes married folks... yeah, I know you ain't married yet... sometimes if they feel like their marriage is falling apart, they go to a counselor. Like a doctor for feelings. Clara does counseling."
Aliana ohs softly, her smile turning abashed, 'I always thought it rather simple...You either are in love or you aren't'
Kyara smiles weakly. "I think... just my opinion, mind ya... the whole thing's this huge gray area."
Aliana nods her head,'Very very grey.'
Kyara nods, reaching shakily for the bottle. She doesn't slosh /too/ much of the liquor onto the table as she fills her glass. "At least the area in between. You /know/ you're in love with Rhys. I /know/ how I feel 'bout Riley. I /know/ I don't hate Clara, bless 'er heart."
Aliana reaches for her glass as well, sipping it rather thoughtfully before she murmers, "What we don't know...is how Riley feels about you." She pauses for a long moment, 'And den ders Roland to think about.'
Kyara snorts. "Riley thinks I'm a kid. 'e's made it quiiiite obvious." At the Roland comment, she sighs. "Rol don't love me, thank the spirits."
Aliana tilts her head, 'He dont?'
Kyara shakes her head, taking a long drink from her glass. She's still clutching the neck of the bottle in one hand. "Nope."
Aliana fixes her with a curious look, 'How do you know dis?'
Kyara shrugs. "He never said 'e does."
Aliana ahhs softly, 'Do you love him?'
Kyara shakes her head with a slight frown. "I like 'im. Obviously, huh? Or I wouldn't be livin' with him. He's more 'n a friend, but..." Again she shakes her head, stating simply, "I don't love him."
Aliana smiles, her expression gentle, 'I have often lived with those I do not love, simply...' Her voice trails off into silence as she sips her drink
Kyara manages a knowing smile. "Cause it makes ya feel special? Course, the sex is a nice side benefit."
Aliana chuckles and nods, 'Very nice' She agrees before finishing off a truffle, "So, what happens now?'
Kyara takes a deep breath, and another drink. "Now I go off to the 'cademy, hopefully. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but I'm hoping not being around Riley will let the fire die down, y'know? And that way, I can't watch him 'n' Clara."
Aliana nods, 'And who knows..perhaps you will meet someone there.'
Kyara pauses, then shrugs. "Yeah, that's true. That hadn't occurred to me."
Aliana settles back with a smile, 'You have a lot going for you Kya, you really do'
Kyara straightens her shoulders proudly. "Yeah, I think you're right."
Aliana grins as she holds up her glass, "This deserves a toast...To Frondeur Kyara Veh...May she find the happiness that she so richly deserves.'
Kyara matches the grin somewhat crookedly, clinking her glass to yours on the third try. "To me! Yay! And to you too, for listening soooo nice to a silly little Stilvani."
Aliana giggles, 'To Irish cream and chocolate'
Kyara snickers, draining her glass. "And here's to /more/ Irish cream and chocolate." She giggles as she holds out the glass.
Aliana laughs as she refills both glasses,'I shall have to thank my brother for this.
Kyara nods fervently. "Thank him fer me too!"
Aliana nods her head quickly, 'If he comes through again..I can introduce you? He is nice enough...I think.'
Kyara grins a little. "Can he do it within the next eight months? I'll be gone after that."
Aliana nods her head quickly, and keeps nodding for a while, 'I could ask him...he may fall over from shock tho'
Kyara cocks her head curiously. "Whyyy?"
Aliana holds up her glass, "The night we shared a bottle of this...was perhaps the first night we had ever talked...I mean really talked. We were far from being close growing up."
Kyara ohhhhs, stars in her eyes. "That mushta been really really nice. Was it a good talk?"
Aliana mhhmms as she turns on the chair so that she can lean against the table and look into the sky. "We had parted on less than good terms...For the first hour, we just sat and glared at each other...finally our father just walked out of the room. That is when he broke out the bottle...It was that our glare at each other all evening.'
Kyara giggles. "Bottle's defitinitely a better choice."
Aliana nods her head quickly,'After about the second glass we started talking...I think the biggest suprise to both of us was how little we knew the other.'
Kyara cocks her head. "So do ya like each other now?"
Aliana wrinkles her nose as she considers this, 'I suppose we do..in a way. I don't understand so much about him...and I am sure he feels the same way about me. but I think we have both mellowed.'
Kyara grins goofily, taking a drink. "Better late than never?"
Aliana giggles and nods, 'Never would be a very very very long time.'
Kyara snickers. "What's longer- forever or never?"
Aliana blinks at that,'Well...How long /is/ Forever...and how long /is/ Never?'
Kyara grins, then giggles. "Depends on yer point of view, I guess."
Aliana runs her fingers through her hair as she considers this, 'Well...Forever is very very long.'
Kyara uh huhs. "So's never. Like, never having Riley? That's a /really/ long time. But you having Rhys forever, I think that's longer."
Aliana considers this for a few moments,'But wouldn't you never having Riley seem much much longer?'
Kyara lifts a finger, and peers at it. "Ah, but that's just a perception."
Aliana peers at her finger for a few moments then blinks, 'But much of our lives are based on perception, don't you think?'
Kyara dips the finger into her glass, licking it off when it's withdrawn. "Well, yeah. Some people think I'm a brat, but I ain't."
Aliana raises her glass, "And some people don't think I have any honour...but I do'
Kyara makes one heavy nod with her head. "'Zactly. Egggggzactly. Islien wouldn't be with ya anyhow if ya had no honor."
Aliana giggles as she repeats for emphasis, 'Eggggggiezactly.' She seems to like the way that sounds...so she says it again, 'Eggggggiezactly.'
Kyara dissolves into giggles, her sense of humor heightened by the liquor. "Yeah. Dragons come outa eggggzactly's, don't they?" This just seems absolutely hilarious to her.
Aliana's words come between giggles, 'Indeedie eddie. Islien came from a eggggizactly.'
Kyara is helplessly lost in the throes of giggles at this point, which makes for interesting snorting noises when she tries to drink from her glass. "Egggggzellent."
Roland walks here from the Java Quarter.
Roland slowly climbs the stairs, careful not to trip.
Aliana's shoulders shake as she tries to refill Kya's glass, "Eggggceptional'
Kyara is drunk. So is Ali, but Kya's /really/ wasted. They're at one of the chessboard tables, a bottle, glasses, and various chocolate baked goodies on top of it. Upon spotting Roland, Kya gives a wild wave, almost falling backwards off her seat.
Roland glances at Kyara and his head fall, a "Doh," barely audible from his direction.
Aliana peers at Kyara, her back to Roland, 'Whose you wabing at?'
Kyara giggles and points, none too steadily. "It's Roly-poly!"
Aliana says solemnly "Egggggzactlies are Roly-Poly...But your shouldn't throw dem'
Roland wanders over towards the ladies' chess table, pausing behind Ali and peering over her shoulder at the delights on the table.
Kyara ooooohs. "Yeah. Messy. And privates clean up messies, and I don't wanna clean up busted egggggzactlies. Roly-poly!" She spreads her arms wide, trying to throw a hug around Roland's neck.
Aliana peers up at Kyara, 'No no eggggzactlies become bebbe dragons...no mess dar.' She blinks at the Stilvani, then the person she has attached herself to,'Roland!' She calls out happily, 'You gotta have a drink wib us...Is a 'pecial drink'
Roland acks as his neck is pulled on and he reaches arms around Ali at the table to prevent himself from falling over. Aww, group hug. "Uhm, what's the drink called?"
Aliana beams as she returns the hug,'Its Irish cream...My bruder taught me all about it...makes it specsial'
Kyara's eyes widen as she sees... or rather thinks she sees... where Roland's arms and hands go. "Whatcha doin' touchin' her?!?" She jumps to her feet, fists clenched. "Yer just like all the others!" She whirls away, and runs down the hill.
You walk towards the Java Quarter.
