            Hey there! Welcome to Julani's homepage! Okay, you're probably wondering who Julani is, exactly. Well, she's a character I play on OtakuMUSH, the wildest, craziest, and all-around most fun MUSH on the net. You can visit us at otaku.mudservices.com. 6250.
            In simple terms, Julani is a junior Apprentice Master, bonded to bronze Galadriex, at Otaku Steading. However, she's also got the wildest, crazy life . . . and she wouldn't have it any other way. Intrigued? Read on . . .

            Julani's Pre-Galadriex Life

            Julani was born in the minor Steading of Samarinu.. Her mother, for whom she was named, died at her birth, and her father Lairn, a Journeyman Clothier, raised her by himself. It was a rather lonely life for a child- they had no other relatives and, thanks to Lairn's curmudgeonous nature, very few visitors. Julani was a bit introverted as well- instead of having friends, she preferred to spend her time writing poetry and songs.
            Around the time Julani turned thirteen, Lairn began to pressure her to join the Clothier's Guild. She gave in reluctantly, and spent the next two years as an apprentice, gradually becoming more and more dissatisfied. Julani finally got fed up and quit the Guild. She decided there was more to life than sewing, and struck out on her own.. She spent the next five years wandering, finding odd jobs here and there to support herself. After a few bad experiences while travelling, she also decided she had to learn how to fight. She accomplished this by becoming a guard at a minor Steading.. Most people have a hard time believing this- I mean, Julani's a tiny little thing, barely five feet high and very slender to boot. But she offered to work for free, and soon accomplished her goal. She did what she set out to do- she learned how to fight, both hand-to-hand and with a knife, and she's quite good at it, too. Though not quite as good as Jarik (of whom more will be heard later) . . . ;)
            At one point, Julani did almost settle down. She fell in love with a young man named Varian, and thought he was in love with her too. Maybe he was- it's hard to tell. See, Varian turned out to be a murderer and a robber, and Julani was forced to kill him to save one of his innocent victims. That kind of soured her on the whole 'love' thing for quite a while.
            After five years of roaming, Julani found herself in Otaku Steading, having been hired to accompany a shipment of runners there. She fell in love with the place, and began to have thoughts of settling there . . . and inadvertantly changed her life forever.

            The Perra Project

            Julani had just stepped out of the Flying Weasel tavern when she got the biggest surprise of her life. While she was trying to decide whether to hit the sack for the night, a big, blue dragon walked up and /slurped/ her. She was invited to become an apprentice at the Bonded Guildhall. Rather dazed, she accepted.. Settling in as an apprentice wasn't the easiest transition she'd ever made- she'd had nobody to answer to for five years, and she had a bit of a hard time dealing with authority for a while there. Among other things, she was a member of what became known as the Apprentice Prank Corp. And some of her pranks were indeed pretty bad- her dirty poems are rather infamous. ;)
            It was around this time that she struck up a friendship with one of the junior Apprentice Masters, Jarik, rider of mottled green Lythen.. It was as much of a surprise to her as it was to him. See, Julani's insatiable curiosity and sharp mind often leads her to stumble onto facts that some people would rather have not known. After a visit to Perra by Bierce, steader of Barrister, (though he used an alias), she deduced that Bierce was Jarik's father. Jarik was more than a little startled when she asked him about it. He confirmed it (or rather, the look on his face did so), and asked her to keep it under her hat. Julani, probably the most discreet person you'd ever want to meet, gave her promise to do so. Somehow, the next thing they knew, Julani and Jarik were spending their nights in long conversations. It was mutually beneficial- Jarik had a friend he knew he could trust implicitly, and Julani (whom Jarik nicknamed 'the Sponge') was able to soak up tons of information about the Kaleds.
            Then came the day Julani was invited to stand at a hatching. Right in the middle of the event, the Kaleds attacked the hatching sands, taking Julani hostage and demanding a dragon egg. In the ensuing confusion, Jarik got himself shot by a crossbow-wielding thug, then the bad guys were thwarted with a bit of ingenuity and some fighting ability (Julani /really/ enjoyed taking out the goon who'd held a sword to her throat. ;) The hatching went on, and to her immense surprise and joy, she bonded with the reddish bronze Galadriex.
            The young pair spent the next year at Perra in training. Soon after the hatching came Julani's birthday, and Jarik gave her a flit egg from which little golden Shimma emerged. (Gold is a girl's best friend?) The most momentous event of that period was Jarik's trial. See, through a bizarre set of circumstances, Jarik ended up being charged with treason. Although he managed to bargain his way out of that one on his own, he was attacked by T'lias, who /hated/ Jarik. T'lias almost managed to kill the AAM too, but Julani, Lythen, and Galadriex had conspired to 'rescue' him. Good thing too. Just as Julani and Lythen arrived at the trial, T'lias was leaning back for the killing blow. Julani and Lythen managed to stop T'lias, however. Of course, T'lias ain't too crazy about Julani, to say the least . . .

            Life at Otaku Steading

            When the Perra Project failed, .everybody was moved back to Otaku Steading. Julani and Galadriex graduated, and were assigned to work with the apprentices, side by side with Jarik.

            Things Start Heating Up

            After that, events happened so fast and furious it's amazing Julani still has her sanity. Though some might debate that fact . . .;)
            To start things off, she got scared half to death when, during the weyrlings' first flights, Syri's gold dragon Elfarren /landed/ on Jarik. He ended up with a lot of broken bones and was grounded for three months. The same night, T'lias showed up and initiated a fight with the bruised and bandaged AAM. Julani almost tried to kill him on the spot, but let him go with a warning. Shortly after that batch of apprentices graduated, Jarik was promoted to Master rank, and took over the position of Apprentice Master. Julani was one of his assistants.
            Then Jarik was mysteriously transferred out of Otaku, and life just wasn't quite as interesting without him around, so Julani requested and got a transfer up north. Recently, she returned as quietly as she'd left, and took up her position as Assistant Apprentice Master again.

            So that's the story to date . . . and there's much, much more in store for Julani and her friends in the future. Check back here regularly- I'll be updating as often as possible. Ciao!
