Kyara!

Frondeur Kyara Veh (better known as Kya) is a character on OtakuMUSH, a wild and crazy MUSH based around an original futuristic theme. Players are encouraged to play diplomats, smugglers, traders- the possibilities are endless. Kya herself is an ex-diplomat from Stilvan. Leaving that, she enlisted in the AF, and is currently on special assignment to Admiral Riley Addison.

Kya's Story

Born Daleil Kyara on the Stilvanian colony Hunnian, Kya started life with a distinct disadvantage despite the silver spoon in her mouth. The tiny horn buds that sprouted from her head were deformed, at best a bad omen in Stilvani culture, at worst an incentive to lynching on some of the more backward colonies. Despite this, her noble parents elected not to have corrective surgery performed, in the hopes she would rise above the deformity and theoretically show just how silly the superstition is. And rise she did. Kya excelled in her childhood studies, despite the ostracism inflicted by her peers. She also sharpened her natural talents in debate and negotiation, saving herself many a beating. When she reached her majority, she selected her honor name- Veh- and chose to take tertiary studies in diplomacy. This was looked upon with surprise, but accepted. It was only a few months later that the Insurrection started. The Emperor had failed to send enough relief to Hunnian to stave off the famine caused by a blight, and hundreds of thousands died. The Hunnian ruler, Queen Fronadur Tanyada Ral, decided the Emperor had failed in his duty, and Hunnian seceded from the Empire. Nothing like this had ever happened before, and it was not taken well. The Emperor sent his troops to take the planet back. Hunnian never had a chance against the might of the Empire, but Hunnians rose to the call of their Queen. Kya, of course, did so as well. As a member of a noble family, she was sent through officer's training. To her surprise and satisfaction, she found that her deformity didn't matter in the military- loyalty and ability counted, not one's appearance. Although ostensibly she was merely an aide to General Uvpar, her duties centered around interpreting intelligence information and advising on military strategy, a job in which she excelled. She was promoted twice, although there was that one little incident which cost her a rank.
Of course, the day came eventually when Her Highness knew it was a lost cause. Tanyada sued for peace after four years of civil war. Kya, who had continued and completed her studies in diplomacy, was on the team of negotiators that hammered out the treaty. Finally the war was over, and although living on an occupied planet was certainly no picnic, life returned to normal for the most part. Tanyada's son Slein Retvi took the throne after she was executed for treason, Hunnian citizens were bestowed with the surname 'Frondeur', and the Emperor promised to improve communications to prevent future disasters such as the famine. Then, just as Kya thought her life was getting back on track, everything was turned upside down for her. One of the treaty stipulations was that a Hunnian would be added to the Stilvanian delegation to the Alliance. The Emperor was well-known as despising deformities, and Retvi chose to send Kya. Although she was one of the most promising young diplomats in the Empire, Retvi knew the Emperor would take his choice as a subtle insult, which is exactly what happened. Basking in his victory, His Majesty ignored the insult and sent Kya to Linnae. She was not happy to be used in this way, but honor and a sense of duty forced her to accept the situation.
It was when she arrived at Linnae that the rose-colored glasses were mercilessly stripped off, and she learned there was much more to diplomacy than negotiation. Diplomats often dabbled in underhanded dealings, and Kya's superiors tried to use her as a tool in those dealings. Shocked, she quietly rebelled, not quite doing her best in that regard, and searching for a way out. The situation was exacerbated when she met people like Dr. Clara Aleron and Niko, humans who accepted her for who she was, and Riley, the AF Chief of Security. She even developed a crush on the latter, which soon turned into a case of hero worship. Together they found a way for her to escape her precarious situation. Kya was able to honorably resign from the delegation in order to enlist, but to make sure she'd be able to return to Linnae, special measures had to be taken. Riley put in a request for her to be on special assignment to him. Kya finds it rather amusing to have a legal guardian, but so far everything's working out nicely.

Kyara is of average height for her race, around four and a half feet, and has the slender build of that people. Her platinum blonde hair, though thick, is cut short, to the nape of her neck. Her complexion is pale ivory, her features delicate. Oddly, unlike most others of her race here, both small horns poking through her hair are misshapen and twisted. Those familiar with her race would guess her age to be around 20 years. She wears an outfit of shiny black cloth that covers her from neck to toe, including long sleeves. It appears to be seamless. Over that is a simple silver sleeveless shirt with a deep V-neck that reaches the tight hem at her waist, and pants of the same color tucked into a pair of shiny black boots.
